DR. BOBBIE DANIELS has been named the 2026 Outstanding Educator and was honored during the Business Meeting at the Annual Convention at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin on Saturday, June 27.  The award recognizes a full-time accounting professor who has made significant contributions to their students, their college, university, and their profession.

   Dedication. Unwavering support. Commitment. Compassion. Leadership. From a colleague, these are the words consistently used by both current and former students and the academic community to describe Dr. Bobbie Daniels.  Known for going above and beyond, she serves not only as an educator but as a guide, helping others achieve their fullest potential. With a passion for teaching that is evident in daily work and boundless enthusiasm for supporting students, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching, leadership, and educational innovation. 

   Bobbie is the current Chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance & Entrepreneurship at Jackson State University.  With over 26 years of distinguished service to the University, she has consistently exceeded expectations in creating an environment that fosters both academic rigor and personal development for students and colleagues alike. Her ability to present complex concepts in a clear, engaging, and approachable manner has earned her high praise from students year after year.  Her teaching evaluations consistently highlight not only her expertise but also her dedication to ensuring that every student fully grasps the material and feels supported in their academic journey and beyond.  She has been awarded the College of Business Teacher of the Year four times, the Department of Accounting JSU Excellence Award, and the College of Business Advisor of the Year.

   Bobbie has also been instrumental in shaping the curriculum to meet the needs of both students and the ever-changing professional landscape.  With a forward-thinking approach, she continually reviews and refines the curricula across all departments under her oversight.  She led a comprehensive overhaul of the Master of Professional Accountancy program.   

   Bobbie is deeply committed to the pipeline development, with a focus on cultivating the next generation of accounting professionals.  She has been instrumental in establishing, securing funding for, and expanding the JSU Uncovering the Possibilities of Accounting Careers Summer Program, which introduces minority high school students from across the state to careers in accounting and finance.  By bridging the gap between secondary education and higher learning, Bobbie has strengthened the department’s enrollment pipeline while inspiring many students to pursue careers in accounting and related fields. 

   Moreover, Bobbie is a mentor to many within the academic community.  Her ability to provide guidance and support to junior faculty members while fostering a collaborative and inclusive department speaks volumes about her leadership.  She has inspired countless colleagues to pursue excellence in their teaching and scholarship, making an indelible mark on JSU. 

   Bobbie has also taught numerous classes.  In the past six years alone, she has excelled while teaching and mentoring in ten different undergraduate and graduate level accounting courses—both master’s and PhD.  Deeply involved in publications, research, and service, her achievements include receiving the College of Business’ Researcher of the Year Award and serving on numerous committees within the Department of Accounting, College of Business, and on the University level.   

   Bobbie holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Mississippi State University, a Master of Professional Accountancy from Jackson State University, as well as a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a major in accounting and a minor in management. She is affiliated with the American Accounting Association, AICPA, Association of Government Accountants, National Association of Black Accountants, and MSCPA.
