Farewell to Noma
It was bittersweet for all of us at the MSCPA as we said goodbye to Noma Gillis Burge at the end of December after 35 dedicated years of service.
Noma began her MSCPA career as CPE Registrar from 1990 to 1997. She then transitioned to Peer Review Coordinator where for the next 22 years she left her indelible mark on the profession. After moving peer review to Alabama in 2019, Noma took on the role of Membership Director. She was also the voice
of the MSCPA when calling our office and took pride in handling hundreds of convention registrations and packets over the years.
Noma was honored at our Board of Governors & Past Chairmen’s Christmas event with a memorable roast by Charles Prince who collaborated closely with her while chairing the Peer Review Committee for two decades. Along with a crystal award recognizing her tenure, Chairman Anita Goodrum presented Noma with a rocking chair set for the back porch of a new house she and her husband Scott are building and will be moving into on their farm in Poplarville very soon.
Congratulations to Noma on her retirement! She will be missed.
As a side note, she returned the stapler. (All in good humor.)
