MSCPA Rising Star Award
STEVEN EILDERS has been named the 2025 MSCPA Rising Star and was recognized during the Business Meeting at the Annual Convention at Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort in Destin on Saturday, June 21. This prestigious honor represents Steven’s exemplary leadership skills and commitment to the MSCPA, the accounting profession, and his community.|
Steven is an audit manager at BMSS Advisors & CPAs and specializes in audit and review engagements for oil and gas, financial institutions, and government municipalities and other governmental agencies. He received his Bachelor and Master of Accountancy degrees from Mississippi State University, where he frequently returns to teach and recruit students to the profession. Steven is a third generation legacy CPA as he followed his grandmother, Ruth Daniel, and father, Jeffrey Eilders, into the profession.
Steven is a leader in the MSCPA having dedicated several years of service to the Central Chapter as a board member and Treasurer. He was recently elected Secretary for the upcoming new year. He also currently represents the chapter on our MSCPA Board of Governors. Being on the “big” board can be intimidating for a young CPA (and some old ones too), but Steven actively participates in the discussions sharing his thoughts and insights.
His service also extends to the MSCPA Awards, Education & Scholarships Committee as a member and Secretary. While most of the committee are accounting educators, Steven’s knowledge and contributions are beneficial to their discussions and decisions. Additionally, he actively encourages and recruits others to get involved on MSCPA committees.
Steven serves the Young CPA Network as a mentor and point person spearheading young professionals to attend socials and events. He is also a Days of Service team leader at his firm, which collected the most food and money donations for the Mississippi Food Network for the past two years. He won the firm’s internal MVP Campbell Trophy this year for the highest individual contribution to the drive. He never misses an event and on most occasions is one of the first to arrive with his contingency.
In addition to excelling locally and at the state level, Steven is also active on the national level. He serves on the AICPA’s Foundation Scholarship Committee, as well as the Emerging Professionals Initiatives (EPIC) Committee. He was one of only 30 CPAs honored by the AICPA as a member of the Leadership Academy’s 16th graduating class. He was selected based on his exceptional leadership skills and professional experience and completed the program this past December. Attendees are selected upon recommendations by their employers, state CPA societies, and volunteer organizations.
In his spare time, Steven is a respected golfer with a handicap of 5 and an avid runner, participating in marathons across the country and locally, many times running to raise money for community causes. He also volunteers with Shower Power, Toys for Tots, and Mission First and serves as Treasurer for his homeowner’s association.
Join us in congratulating Steven Eilders as our 2025 Rising Star!
