    Dr. Steve Mulhollen, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA, SHRM-SCP

    Bio


    Steve Mulhollen is an Assistant Professor of Accountancy at Mississippi College, where he teaches Principles, Intermediate, and Cost accounting. He also serves as the University's Assistant Chief Financial Officer.

    His 27-year career spans investor relations and financial analysis at WorldCom, wood and fiber procurement accounting for Georgia Pacific, public accounting at HORNE, and leadership roles as CFO of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Executive Pastor/Treasurer at Broadmoor Baptist Church.

    Steve holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi, an MBA and Certificate in Accounting from Mississippi College, and a BA in Christian Studies. He maintains an active CPA license and SHRM-SCP designation, serves on the MSCPA Not-for-Profit Committee, and provides consulting services to non-profit and governmental organizations through his company, Poiema LLC.

This course provides CPAs with an intermediate-level refresher on managerial accounting concepts used to support internal decision-making, operational planning, and performance management. Designed for CPAs working in public accounting, industry, and firm leadership, the course highlights how managerial accounting tools inform decisions made by management teams, business owners, and functional leaders across all industries. Participants will apply cost behavior analysis, contribution margin analysis, budgeting, variance analysis, and performance measurement techniques to realistic business and organizational scenarios. Emphasis is placed on using managerial accounting information to support pricing, cost control, profitability analysis, forecasting, and performance evaluation. The course demonstrates how CPAs can translate managerial accounting data into actionable insights, whether advising external clients, supporting executive leadership, or managing internal operations within their own organizations or firms. This course is eligible for Yellow Book.
