Lynn Fitch was sworn in as Mississippi’s 40th Attorney General and first ever woman Attorney General on January 9, 2020, and was re-elected to her second term in 2023. As Mississippi’s chief law enforcement officer, General Fitch leads on matters of public safety, including by establishing the State’s Cyber Fraud Task Force, making human trafficking investigations and prosecutions a priority with more than 50 multi-jurisdictional operations in her first term alone, and setting up the Fentanyl Strike Force to take down operations that peddle death to our children. General Fitch has also used her platform to address key economic issues in a State that leads in poverty, especially for women. She launched her Empowerment Project agenda to address challenges families face to upward mobility and stability, including broken foster care and adoption systems, safe haven laws, gaps in maternal care, and affordable and accessible quality childcare. In 2022, TIME named General Fitch to its list of the 100 most influential people in the world and Worth Magazine named her to its Worthy 100 for her work protecting women and children.
