Webcasts and Online Learning
Do you need just a few hours of CPE to complete your annual requirement but don’t have time to attend a “live” seminar? Or is there a special topic not on the "live" schedule? Let the classroom come to you! The Mississippi Society of CPAs has partnered with major CPE vendors of webcasts / webinars to provide additional learning opportunities for you. The vendors we are starting with include Surgnet-McCoy, ACPEN, and CPA Crossings. Surgent-McCoy and ACPEN offer a variety of topics while CPA Crossings concentrates on technology topics geared specifically for CPAs. By accessing these vendors through our web site, you will be supporting the MSCPA as a portion of your registration fee will be shared with the Society.
The Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy has approved these vendors for CPE credit because they are NASBA-approved. They are “live” and “interactive”. Replays of certain webinars that provide interaction with the original discussion leaders are also approved. HOWEVER, if you take a webinar / webcast from a different vendor that does not provide for LIVE interaction with the presenters, it may fall under the “self-study” category and MUST be from a NASBA / QAS approved vendor. Otherwise, you may not receive credit. When in doubt, check with the State Board before spending time and money.
